Age-related diseases are in the top of 10 leading causes of global deaths killing 110K people daily. One of the main causes of such diseases like atherosclerosis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, neuromuscular, inflammatory and other age-related pathologies is intracellular junk (toxic compounds which cannot be destroyed by human organism itself, accumulated in most body tissues over time and lead to the development of serious pathologies). Modern medical approaches to age-related diseases are not particularly effective in perspective and are aimed at eliminating symptoms, not causes. We will create a therapy aimed at clearing the accumulation of the main types of intracellular junk to reduce the risk​ of developing cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, oncological and other pathologies, and significantly improve human healthspan.

Background

Intracellular junk (lipofuscin, 7-ketocholesterol, etc) – one of the main causes of atherosclerosis, neurodegenerative (Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease), neuromuscular, inflammatory and other age-related pathologies. Human physiological mechanisms, which is responsible for the recognition and degradation of intracellular junk, unable to cleave lipofuscin and 7-ketocholesterol. Such compounds are accumulated in most body tissues over time and lead to the development of serious pathologies. At this time there are still no developed universal approaches to creating therapies that can eliminate intracellular junk.

Problem: modern medicine's approaches to age-related diseases are not particularly effective in perspective and are aimed at eliminating symptoms, not causes Solution: create a therapy aimed at clearing the accumulation of the main types of intracellular junk which cannot be cleaved by organism itself We will create a therapy aimed at clearing the accumulation of the main types of intracellular junk to reduce the risk​ of developing cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, oncological and other pathologies, and significantly improve human healthspan. We also develop a panel of primary ageing biomarkers. We are at the early stage. At the moment we are close to making a protocol for isolating lipofuscin from the tissue. We are also working on ageing biomarker based on lipofuscin. The project objectives also include a quantitative study of molecular and cellular damage, and the use of the data to create a panel of biomarkers that allows to objectively assess the biological age of a person. Range of applications: ● Reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, oncological pathologies ● Improving the patient's condition in the presence of these pathologies ● Improving the quality of life — well-being and activity in people over 50 ● Cosmetic therapy — improvement of skin colour, structure and elasticity ● Optimization of other types of rejuvenation therapies ● Rejuvenation therapy — a set of procedures provided in a clinic ● Contract delivery to clinics of injectable solutions containing temporary gene therapy (allowing the production of enzymes directly inside the cells), or ready-made enzymes that clear intracellular junk ● In the course of work on the therapy, an express test will be created to determine the level of lipofuscin, which reflects the actual biological age and allows to estimate the number of enzymes necessary for the treatment of a particular person ● Skin cosmetology — plasters with microneedles, which contain enzymes that destroy lipofuscin
